Ekiti State Government on Monday has announced new measures aimed at curbing sexual violence and part of the punishments that will be meted out to sex offenders in Ekiti, is that their photos will be posted on various media across the state. The State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Wale Fapounda at a press conference to announce the new measures disclosed that persons currently standing trial for offence of child defilement and those whom the Director of Public Prosecution had issued a ‘case to answer’ legal advice for the same offence will henceforth undergo compulsory psychiatry test. Other measures according to the Commissioner include pasting of photographs of convicted sex offenders in prominent public spaces in their local government headquarters, uploading the sex offenders photograph on the website of the Ministry of Justice. A Nigerian man with the handle, @LegitChidi, has called for the bombing of Abuja Central Mosque after the New Zealand shootings which left over 50 people dead. The Nigerian man called for the bombing of Abuja Central Mosque, after Dr Joe Abah, made a post concerning the the New Zealand mosque shootings, calling on a condemnation of "all forms of extremism: religious, racial, ideological or political." However many social media users condemned the attack in New Zealand, the Twitter user wrote "Let them shift to Abuja central mosque abeg..we need them there." Nigerians have a bad habit of disposing of used and bad tires anyhow, a visit to some other parts of the country will show you that tires are disposed of carelessly save for some companies who are recycling it and using it for shoes and other items. Nkwocha Ernest is a Lagos-based artist who creates artwork pieces using condemned and used tires. Ernest saw these and decided to make something out of it. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has insisted that it would not present a certificate of return to Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha. INEC’s National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, Mr Festus Okoye, said this during his appearance on Channels Television’s He explained that the electoral body took the decision because the returning officer for Imo West senatorial district election that he declared Governor Okorocha as the winner “under duress”. While declaring the resulted, the returning officer had said he was doing so under duress. Although the governor insisted he won the elections fairly and that his victory was not declared under duress, his name was not on the list of those to be given a certificate of return and despite his protests against the decision, he wasn’t given a certificate when winners got theirs last week. The suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, on Monday alleged that his Assets Declaration Form 001 at the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) had been tampered with. Onnoghen made the allegation at his resumed trial on alleged non declaration of some of his assets before the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT). The said documents are the CCB assets declaration forms of 2014 and 2015. The prosecution after calling its 1st witness, James Akalla, a Senior Investigative Officer with the CCB, had sought to tender the said documents in support of his evidence against Onnoghen. However when the documents were shown to the defendant, Onnoghen through his counsel, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo SAN, however said a careful look at the documents showed that they had been tampered with. The acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad, has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari does not need the permission of the National Judicial Council to appoint him as the acting CJN. Muhammad made the claim in response to a query given to him by the NJC, the body constitutionally empowered to recommend the appointment of chief justices and heads of courts. A group, Centre for Justice and Peace Initiative, had written a petition to the NJC, asking the council to remove Muhammad as a justice of the Supreme Court for allowing himself to be sworn in by the President without recourse to the NJC. Man Stabbed To Death After Bringing Bottle To Fight Neighbour In Onitsha. Photos - Crime - NewsLive

A bloody clash between two neighbours has left one dead in Onitsha area of Anambra state. It was gathered that the deceased simply identified as Obinna, got into a heated argument with his neighbour about an undisclosed issue which resulted into a fight. According to other neighbours, Obinna rushed to get a bottle during the fight but was stabbed to death with it by his neighbour. Report has it that the police was notified of the incident and an investigation into the matter is underway. A Nigerian student identified as Emelife Stella Chinelo, who enrolled for an M.Sc in Chemistry at the University of Mysore, has received 20 medals and five cash prizes over her 9.263% final grade point. The Nigerian student who received the 20 medals and five cash prizes from University of Mysore at the school's 99th annual convocation on Sunday, is said to be the first foreign student in  recent years to bag so many gold medals.  It was gathered that the University of Mysore has over 1,000 foreign students, pursuing under-graduate and post-graduate courses in colleges affiliated to it and in Manasagangotri.
